Dateline NBC
A few months ago, Dateline NBC did a story on weight loss. The Dateline story offered a challenge to 6 volunteers who wanted to lose weight for this televised study. All 6 of the volunteers had a common goal. They wanted to shed some pounds for their upcoming High School Reunion.

Dateline incorporated 4 different diets in the study, along with 1 extreme exercise regime, and 1 weight loss through Hypnosis. Amazingly the person who decided to use Hypnosis for losing and controlling his weight not only lost weight, but made significant changes to his eating habits and lifestyle.

It’s no great mystery – In order to lose weight we need to consume fewer calories, make proper and healthy food choices, along with increasing the amount of exercise we get. As simple as this may seem, why does it become increasingly hard to stick to a diet and exercise program? Why do we eat when we are obviously not hungry, and why do we continue to make poor food choices? Could it be that all of these negative habits are there, because our subconscious programming is getting in the way?

Hypnosis is a very powerful step to embarking on a weight loss program.
Hypnosis works because you allow yourself to break through the old habits and negativity that were programmed years before. How wonderful would you feel if after a Hypnosis session you are able to emerge and know that you are in control of your thoughts and your life?

The greatest challenge for any Hypnotist is the ability to work with a client and unravel the misconceptions and unrealistic expectations of Hypnosis. Many people because of misinformation shy away from using this wonderful form of behavior modification.

Does Hypnosis make people lose control of their actions?
People are often under the misconception that they will not be in control of their actions, or possibly even succumb to doing something that is against their will. Nothing could be further from the truth. Our will has nothing to do with Hypnosis. Your subconscious mind will not allow you to do anything that you would not normally do. No Hypnotist can make you rob a bank unless you are actually a bank robber. And as far as dancing like a chicken….well you get the picture.

A good Hypnotist will use all of their learned skills to enhance people’s lives. They will help their clients accept positive suggestions for their own good, and work with enhancing their belief system. Hypnosis will only work if you truly believe in it, have the desire to make positive life changes, and are willing to accept the positive suggestions that your Hypnotist will give to you during your session.

Using Hypnosis successfully takes practice
You will also need to be willing to do self-Hypnosis after your session to reinforce those suggestions. A good Hypnotist will give you a tape of your session that you should listen to for at least 21 days after your first session. Remember the old saying…It takes 21 days to make a habit, and 21 days to break a habit.

Some facts about Brain Activity Levels
Many people are aware that there are different levels of brain activity. In fact, there are 4 different types…Beta, Delta, Alpha and Theta. Beta is your conscious level. It is the waking state. Delta is the deepest state of all. You are in the Delta State when you are sleeping very soundly. The Alpha and Theta states are relaxed states, also referred to as the Hypnotic State. A good example of the Alpha State is daydreaming. Many people are familiar with the Alpha State. Have you ever been driving down the highway, one that you have driven many times before, and all of a sudden realize that you missed your exit? Well that’s the Alpha State. It is simply a state in which you can do something, while thinking about something else at the same time. Another good example of this is watching television. You can watch TV and have a conversation with someone at the same time.

What does it feel like to be hypnotized?
Contrary to popular belief, when you are in a state of Hypnosis you are not unaware of what’s going on around you. Actually, you are in a state of heightened awareness and extreme focus. You will remember everything that was discussed and everything that you heard during your session. The reason you are more aware during a Hypnosis session is due to the fact that your subconscious mind (the right side of your brain) is much more alert during this time, and your conscious mind (the analytical or left side of your brain) simply gets bypassed. The amazing thing is that your subconscious mind actually retains memories and suggestions that were received when you were just a child. Suggestions from elders, teachers, parents, friends, and family members. In essence everyone who ever spoke to you when you were a child.
Our subconscious is for the most part, programmed by the time we reach the age of 10. All of our thoughts get firmly planted in our minds.

Hypnosis can make the "change of old habits" possible
Hypnosis is a wonderful way to get into the subconscious and change that old programming that is of no longer any use to us. Hypnosis can reprogram our old negative habits that can be harmful to us, and change them into new positive suggestions for a necessary change that we want to make to our behavior.

Hypnosis makes positive life changes in so many ways. It can be very effective in changing our negative habits into new affirming positive ones. We can stop smoking, control pain, eliminate stress, increase self confidence, increase motivation, get rid of a fear of public speaking, enhance memory and study skills – and let’s not forget lose weight; along with many, many other negative types of behavior.

Any of these negative habits when used in conjunction with Hypnosis and reinforced with self-Hypnosis can make wonderful and profound changes that can last your lifetime.
